‘Cats Pound Irish, 42-7
Senior running back Taylor Still led the Paden City High School Varsity Football Team its third win of the season on Oct. 15, as the Wildcats handed a 42-7 loss to the Irish of St. John Central.
Still led the Wildcats with 295 ground yards on 38 carries and scored four touchdowns in the victory.
Paden City was first on the scoreboard as Still ran the ball in 15 yards for six points, followed by a Zach Heasley extra point kick. Senior Geoffrey Bidwell got in on the action to score Paden City’s second TD of the game on a 29-yard run.
In the second quarter, it was Bidwell getting the nod again for Paden City on a 36-yard run, followed by Heasley’s kick to put the score at 21-0 in favor of the ‘Cats at the half.
In the second half, Still scored three TDs for the ‘Cats on rushes of three, 10, and 13 yards.
Every touchdown scored by Paden City in the game was followed by a Zach Heasley extra point kick.
St. John’s only score of the game came near the end of the fourth on a short 13-yard run.
The Wildcats rushed for 389 yards on 52 carries in the contest, with Still accounting for 295 yards on 38 rushes, including four touchdowns. Bidwell carried the ball 11 times in the game for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Freshman quarterback Heasley completed two of seven passes for 12 yards and kicked the extra point after all six PCHS touchdowns in the game.
Kennedy Cain caught one pass for Paden City for eight yards and Aaron Higgins had one catch for four yards.
The Wildcats will host an excellent team in the Beallsville Blue Devils on Oct. 22, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
