PC?Grasshopper Signups

Signups for the 2011-12 Paden City Grasshopper Basketball and Cheerleading will be held Oct. 9 for students in Kindergarten through sixth grade from 3-5 p.m. and again from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15. Signups will be held at the Paden City High School Multipurpose Building

Pistol Club Begins Shoots

The Moundsille Rifle and Pistol Club has begun its weekly indoor pistol shoots. Practice sessions are held every Monday starting at 6 p.m. Handguns in .45 caliber or less are permitted. Any type of wadcutter or frangible ammunition is not allowed.

Fine print targets are available or bring your own paper targets. Eye and ear protection is required; binoculars and stapler are suggested.

The public is invited. Current members practice for free and there is a small charge for non-members. The club is located on 12th Street in Moundsville, next to the regional jail. For more information, contact Chris Druschel at 304-780-7528.

Short Line Youth Wrestling Meeting On Tap

On Oct. 9, the Short Line Youth Wrestling Association will hold its annual meeting at the Short Line School cafeteria at 3 p.m. All Board members, parents and wrestlers are encouraged to attend. Additionally, those attending should bring with them any and all wrestling supplies, gear, bank information and anything else that has to deal with Short Line Youth Wrestling Inc.

Softball Camp Scheduled

University of Charleston Head Softball Coach Ray Loeser has announced two camp dates for Fall 2011. One camp is for area high school players on Oct. 15, while the softball team will hold an all-skills date on Oct. 29.

The Oct. 15 Elite High School Camp is structured for current high school players who have an interest in continuing to play in college. The camps will include skill instruction and game-like scrimmages, while campers will also get the opportunity to take a campus tour with lunch provided. Registration fee is $50 for the camp, which runs from 10 .m. to 4 p.m.

An all-skills camp on Oct. 29 is for all ages and skill levels. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon with campers getting skill instruction and drills to help them prepare for the spring season, while also giving students a chance to interact and practice with current Golden Eagle student-athletes. Registration for this camp is $25.

All campers need to come prepared with their own playing equipment (glove, bat, helmet, cleats and tennis shoes).
