Paden City Grounded By Dragons
The Dragons of Cameron handed the Paden City Wildcats their third loss of the season on Friday in Cameron, 35-14.
The Dragons got off to a scorching start in the opening minutes of the game, scoring on a four yard run to take the early lead. By the end of the first quarter, Cameron scored again, leading their visitors, 15-0.
With 2:19 to play in the first half, Paden City’s Taylor Still, took the ball in 11 yards and completed the two point conversion run to put the score at 15-7, in favor of the home team. Still ran the next Paden City touchdown in on a three yard run in the third period, but the ‘Cats would score no more, and took the loss on the chin.
Offensively for the ‘Cats, Still led the way with 41 rushes for 189 yards, and both touchdowns. Geoffrey Bidwell carried the ball five times for six yards.
Freshman quarterback, Zach Heasley completed three of nine passes and was intercepted once for 20 yards. Bidwell completed three of five passes for 20 yards.
Kennedy Cain caught two passes for 23 yards; Peyton Hinkley had three catches for 18 yards; and Still caught a pass for five yards.
Jaime Billiter led the Wildcat defense with eight tackles, one for a loss. Keith Hardbarger was credited with seven tackles; Hinkley, six tackles; Aaron Higgins, six; Kyle Staton, five; Still, five; and Trey Leonard, five tackles.
The Wildcats will leave their usual format of Friday night football as they take to the road this week to play at Conotton Valley on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
