The Magnolia Boys’ Soccer Team won its fourth game of the season in fine action besting John Marshall 5-1 Sept.21 in Glen Dale.
It was the Eagles’ Michael Jones that got the scoring started with a goal assisted by Evan Heslep at the 13:30 mark in the first half. Jones
returned the favor to Heslep off a corner kick at the 38:40 mark, when Heslep headed the ball into the back of the net that game the visiting Blue Eagles a 2-0 advantage after.
The Monarchs scored a goal early in the second half to pull to within a goal. But, the Eagles’ Trevor Long knocked in a third goal off a side-line throw-in by Joey Culley.
Eagle striker Oscar Celedon tallied the next Magnolia score when he followed his own shot with a rebound putback to give the Eagles a three-goal lead half way into the final period.
Jones scored his second goal of the night off a corner kick when the Monarch keeper misdirected the soccer ball into the net.
Eagle goal keeper Mike Winter was strong in between the goal posts, making four outstanding saves.
