Bertozzi And Miller Receive Tad Fitzsimmons Scholarship

Two Wetzel County graduates have been awarded $1,000 Tad Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarships for 2010. The awards were presented on Awards Day at their high schools.

This year’s recipients are Allison Bertozzi from Paden City High School and Krysten Miller from Magnolia High School.

Bertozzi, the daughter of Rick and Mary Bertozzi of Paden City, has been active in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track while attending Paden City High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and participated in Quiz Bowl and Math Field Day. She has participated in many church, community, and fund raising activities. She will be attending Fairmont State University this fall majoring in Biology or PreMed.

While attending Magnolia High School, Krysten Miller participated in volleyball and was captain her senior year.

She belonged to the Science National Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honorary, National Honor Society, Student Council, Thespian, School Improvement Council, and was on the PRIDE Drug Prevention Team.

Miller has been involved in many community and church activities. She plans to attend Harding University in Arkansas and major in math education. Krysten is the daughter of Lynn Miller and Tim Miller, both of New Martinsville.

These scholarships are funded from proceeds of the Tad Fitzsimmons 5K Run/Walk that was held for eight years in his honor and generous donations from businesses and friends.
