Paden City Fall Fest Promises Applebutter Made by Ex-Mayor

By Staff | Oct 12, 2016

Fall Fest is around the corner, so make plans to taste apple butter and more.

The festival takes place between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at the city park.

Last year, former Mayor John Hopkins and his wife Barbara made a bunch of apple butter for the festival. This year promises to be something to behold – two bouncy houses for the kids. Two! Maybe get the kids worn out jumping around so you can watch the recently released DVD “Batman versus Superman” later in peace.

Mayor Joel Davis said the festival attracts folks from all around.

“Paden City and the surrounding areas look forward to this festival every year. Mr. and Mrs. Hoppy (Hopkins) have done a great job organizing it the past few years and I am thankful for their input and help this year,” he said. “I am hoping to expand and grow the festival every year that I am in charge. With that said, we will start the planning for next years festival right away. If anyone is interested in helping, please let me or another Park and Pool Board Member know.”

Here are some of the things that will be there: Applebutter making by Hoppy, craft and food vendors, artisan demonstrations, free cornhusk doll making for the kids fun for all.

During the festival, there will be a car show free admission – as a benefit in Jerry Cecil’s name to raise funds for ALS Association, which fights Lou Gehrig’s disease. The car show will take place between noon and 4 p.m. at the city park. Sign-ups take place between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. For more information about the car show, please contact (304) 266-5542.
