Cee-Bees Rough-Up Lumberjacks, 49-21

The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees stung the Valley Lumberjacks by air early, and then put the finishing touches by ground, Friday night in Pine Grove for a 49-21 victory in high school football action.

Clay-Battelle tallied two first quarter touchdowns by air with a pair of 14 and 15 yard touchdown tosses for a 14-0 first quarter lead.

However, the short-handed Lumberjacks cut the deficit in half when Tyler Kocher scampered home on a five yard run quarterback keep, and Peyton Bassett, then split the uprights for the PAT.

Two more touchdown passes of 20 and 11-yards would give the visitors a 30-7 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Lumberjacks Levi Streets scored on a five yard run, but the Cee-Bees would quickly answer with a 41-yard touchdown run to end the third quarter.

Clay-Battelle would score another pair of rushing touchdowns from two and 46-yards before Valley’s Alex Midcap hauled in an eight yard touchdown pass from Kocher. Travis Leek added a two-point conversion run for the games final points.

Streets rushed for 64 yards and scored a touchdown to lead the Valley ground game, while Kocher netted 60-yards and Leek, 26 yards. Kocher passed for 155-yards and a touchdown, with Bassett leading the way with 28 yards on one catch. Midcap hauled in three catches for 16 yards and a score, while Leek grabbed one for four yards.

The Lumberjacks totaled 11 first downs to 18 for the Cee-Bees, while Clay-Battelle lost 52 yards on five penalties to 30 lost yards on three infractions for Valley.

Defensively, Streets made 13 tackles, with 10 being solo, while Midcap added 10 tackles, with two going for quarterback sacks. Austin Lowe added seven tackles for the Lumberjacks.

Next up for the Lumberjacks is Parkersburg Catholic Oct. 1 in Parkersburg at 7 p.m.
