London Pleads Guilty to Two Counts of Sexual Abuse

Robert Brad London, 36, pleaded guilty in Wetzel County Circuit Court, on Monday, April 18 to two counts of sexual abuse by a custodian. For these offenses London could serve 20-40 years in the West Virginia Penitentiary for Men.

A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted, and London will return to court April 28, 10 a.m. for sentencing.

Each count of sexual abuse carries a penalty of 10-20 years in prison. The prosecution urges that London serve each 10-20 year sentence consecutively. Furthermore, the prosecution recommends that London be placed on probation for 30 years after his prison sentence and also pay the cost of counseling for the minor victim in the case.

London was originally charged with several sexual offenses. Count one charged London with display of obscene matter to a minor, to have occurred between September 18, 2009 and September 18, 2011.

Counts two, five, eight, and 11 charged London with sexual assault in the first degree, to have occurred between September 18, 2009 and September 18, 2011.

Counts three, six, nine, and 12 charged London with sexual abuse, to have occurred between September 18, 2009 and September 18, 2011. Count 14 charged sexual abuse, alleged to have occurred between February 1, 2015 and February 31, 2015.

Counts four, seven, 10, and 13 charged him with incest, to have occurred between September 18, 2009 and September 18, 2011.

Per the terms of the plea agreement, London’s remaining counts against him were dismissed.

Also, Michael Richard Martin, 25, of 306 North First Avenue, Paden City, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. This was the lesser included offense of Martin’s original charge, which was handed down by the January 2016 Grand Jury. Martin’s original charge was possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver.

For the offense Martin was sentenced to the maximum prison sentence of six months. He was given credit for 63 days already served.

Charles William Shanabarger, 41, of 28 Rose Street Lot 37, New Martinsville, pleaded guilty to delivery of of a controlled substance (marijuana).

The state recommends that Shanabarger serve one to five years in prison for the offense. This sentence would be suspended for three years of probation. If Shanabarger was successful on probation, he could withdraw his felony guilty plea in favor of a misdemeanour plea.

Shanabarger will return to court at a later date for sentencing. He was originally charged by the January 2016 Grand Jury with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance (marijuana) and delivery of a controlled substance (marijuana).

Latisha Alena Thompson will be evaluated for drug court and will return to court on April 28, 9 a.m.

Thompson, 30, of 126 Pike Street, is charged with possession of a controlled substance (methylphenidate) with intent to deliver, and two charges of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance (acid/LSD).

Tasheena Lynn Davis, 27, of 126 Pike Street, New Martinsville, will also return to court on April 28, 9 a.m., for entry of a plea.

Davis received two indictments from the January 2016 Grand Jury.

One indictment contains two charges, conspiracy to deliver a controlled narcotic substance (heroin) and delivery of a controlled narcotic substance (heroin). These offenses allegedly occurred on or about January 2, 2013.

A separate two-count indictment charges Tasheena with conspiracy to deliver a controlled narcotic substance (heroin) and delivery of a controlled narcotic substance (heroin). Both of these counts are to have occurred on or about July 22, 2014.

In another matter, Christine Robinson was sentenced on April 8 to the maximum penalty of one to five years for the felony offense of conspiracy to deliver heroin.

Robinson pleaded guilty on Friday, April 1 to the charge.

On his Wetzel County Prosecuting Attorney’s Facebook page, Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Haught credited the West Virginia State Police, Hundred Detachment and West Virginia State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their work on this case.

Haught noted, “The Hundred Detachment is essential to providing law enforcement in the Northeastern portion of our county. One reason for our Heroin problem is our close proximity to major distribution hubs in Pittsburgh, and Greene County, Pa.”

George T. Anderson, 43, pleaded guilty on April 8 to one count of delivery of a controlled substance (hydrocodone). A pre-sentencing report will be prepared.

For the offense he could receive one to 15 years in prison.

Anderson was originally indicted by the January 2016 Grand Jury and charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance (hydrocodone) and two counts of delivery of a controlled narcotic substance (oxycodone).

Darrell Gray, 58, of 625 1/2 Kappel Street, New Martinsville, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance (methamphetamine). A pre-sentence investigation is to be conducted. Gray could face one to five years in prison for the offense.

Gray allegedly bought a box of Sudafed to make meth.

Sean David Grimm, 29, of 1232 Clencairgn Road, Weirton, pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of battery. Grimm was originally charged with malicious assault.

A pre-sentencing report is to be filed in the matter; Grimm could face up to one year in jail for the offense.
