Rosy Cozart, alongside Pam Ferrell, presented the Wetzel County Animal Shelter's October report to Wetzel County Commissioners on Tuesday morning. Cozart also reminded commissioners of the Wetzel County Animal Shelter Supporters' annual auction slated for Nov. 30. A dinner, beginning at 4:30 p.m. that day, will feature a variety of different soups, homemade bread, and dessert. The auction will follow the dinner.
Each commissioner purchased tickets for the event.
Cozart reported that the WCASS had recently purchased new boxes for dogs, which include four-inch thick wood. She stated the shelter was preparing to take some boxes, equipped with straw, out to needy dogs throughout the county.
The following numbers were released through the monthly report: dogs euthanized, one; cats euthanized, two; dogs adopted, four; cats adopted, two; dogs to rescue, seven; cats, zero; dogs returned to owner, three; cats returned to owner, zero; dogs taken in, 20; cats taken in, four; dogs in approval/foster care, three; cats in approval/foster care, one; present impounds, zero for both animals, and present quarantines, zero for both animals.
