O’Neil Wins Second OV Match Play Event

November 20, 2013
Wetzel Chronicle

Paul Keylor became the oldest bowler (75) to ever shoot a 300 at Bruce Lanes, having accomplished the feat Nov. 7 while bowling in the Industrial League. Five days later, Ron O'Neil Jr. rolled his ninth 300 game at Bruce Lanes while bowling in the Tuesday Night Men's League.

The games broke a tie with Keith Craycraft for the most 300s ever bowled at the local bowling alley.

RESULTS

Ron O'Neil Jr. defeated Brandon Longwell 232-210 to win his second weekly event this year and making Longwell's fourth straight final round match (two wins, two second places). O'Neil was awarded $60 for his performance, compliments of this week's sponsor, C. J. LaRoche Tree Services.

Sean Sawyers was the two-game high qualifier, with games of 256-249-56 hdcp, for a 551 total. O'Neil eliminated Chet Richmond 259-225 in one semifinal, while Longwell edged Sawyers 243-222 in the other semi.

Longwell continue to lead the Point List with 300 markers, while O'Neil (280), Brent Conaway (230), and Bill Pritsch (195) round out the top four. The highest 24 bowlers qualify for the 36th annual Grand Finale, where the winner will receive $1,000, based on entries.

Tournament sponsors are once again Miller Lite, Capitol Beverage and Buddy Light Accounting and Tax Services.
