Paden City Defeats Cameron, 50-42

Cydney Blatt scored a team-high 12 points and hauled in seven rebounds to lead the Paden City Lady Wildcats to a 50-42 victory over Cameron Feb. 7 in the OVAC consolation matchup at Bob Burton Gymnasium. Blatt also dished out three assists in the win.

After dropping a 54-35 verdict to the Lady Dragons last week in Cameron, the Lady ‘Cats were looking for redemption, but fell behind 7-5 after one period of play. Paden City outscored the Lady Dragons the rest of the way to get the nod.

Backing Blatt in the scoring column was senior guard Logan Cosper with 11 markers that included a pair of baskets from beyond the arc. Her sister, Taylor, added six points and made five steals.

In addition, Lynnsie Parsons tacked on five markers, while Kayla Barker, Myah Charkawi, and Lynah Stanley each netted four points. In addition, Hannah Stanley netted three points and Kayla Hizer tossed in a free throw.

The Lady ‘Cats will play Buffalo Putnam for the division 2 championship in the Hometown Invitational Tournament today at St. Marys High School, beginning at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, St. Marys will host Gilmer County for the HIT Division 1 title at 7:30 p.m.
