‘Cats Crush Hornets

All eleven Wildcat players scored as the Paden City boys beat Hundred 69-41 in a mutual season opener Dec. 4 inside the Hornets Nest at Hundred High School.

Paden City freshman Luke Cooper the Wildcats in the first period with two baskets and a free throw, while sophomore Kennedy Cain matched that in the second period to help the visitors grab a 31-16 advantage at the break.

To open the second half, the Hornets’ senior Kirk Shriver caught fire and drilled a pair of baskets from beyond the arc and swished a pair of freebies from the charity stripe. But, that was all the scoring from Hundred.

The ‘Cats’ senior guard, Drew Bidwell, netted three baskets, while Cain contributed a deuce and a pair of free throws. Zach Heasley netted a three pointer to push the Wildcat advantage to 53-28 after three periods of play.

In the final eight minutes, eight different Wildcats netted points, led by a pair of Kane Pyles’ baskets, while the Hornets’ Shriver continue to light up the scoreboard with a threeball and short jumper to end the contest.

Shriver led all scorers with 20 points, including four baskets from long range, and hauled in five boards. Levi Simpson tallied 10 points, while Greg Stewart and Hunter Goddard netted three markers. Andrew King and Chris Varner each made a two pointer for the Hornets, while Brandon White netted a free throw.

Cain and Heasley each tallied 14 points, while Bidwell sank eight markers to pace the Wildcat attack. Cooper contributed seven points, while Pyles added six points. Allen drained five points, while Levi Meadows and Logan Carroll each netted a pair of baskets. Deven Price followed with three markers, while Andrew Dennis sank a six footer.
