From Robert Hoffman
To The Editor,
This letter is being written to and/or for all those in America.
Be happy you are here in America and proud of it, land of the free and home of the brave. Although most of us have, and share, small differences, we live in the land of the free and home of the brave. Here in America, people of all races, colors, and creeds share the right to be free, free to share in the many opportunities it offers. Even foreigners come here to be “free” and share. Many here are in sports that pay big salaries while 95 percent to 98 percent of Americans receive scant wages in comparison.
My father’s parents came to America in 1902 from Germany. My mother’s parents had blood lines from many lands, and had some Native American blood in them as well.
If you live, work, play, or loaf in the USA, you should be proud to be here and should be danged happy to show it.
Sports figures should be the first to show their thanks. It is little to pay. For you who disagree, leave. The sooner, the better. Go jump in the ocean and swim for it. You might find you a little island all to yourself, and lots of water to soak your head.
It is a great privilege to live here in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, and almost heaven. America does not need or want these who do not believe in honoring our flag and national emblems, songs of praise, and tributes.
This is submitted by a 88-year-old happy-to-be-here sports fan. God Bless all American sports players and sports fans.
P.S. I notice far more empty seats at the football stadiums of late. In very nice fall weather too!
