From Joseph J. Morris
To The Editor,
A little taste of food for thought. In some of my letters to the editor I may have given you the impression that I am against government. That is the wrong impression that I want to convey.
Society needs government to function! Government also needs laws to function. What I am against is too much government. Too much government is when it oversteps the constitution which is the law of the land, making government the outlaw.
Just whose fault is it that government is overstepping the constitution? Since we are the government then it must be us who is at fault. Then who is us? Us is the silent majority. Why is it the silent majority’s fault? Silence is one form of consent. When government infringes on any of our rights and we remain silent, then we are giving them our consent.
Should we blame government for making a law that we all agreed to? No one likes to be blamed for their action or lack of action, so we then make excuses to put the blame on someone else’s shoulders.
Well now you can go back to your favorite TV program. Why did I use the word program? Some of you know, the rest are programmed. Sleep well, your government is in good hands. OBEY and BE SILENT.
