From Fawn Price
To The Editor,
Thanks and appreciation is extended to the students, teachers, principals, and members of the area communities for your participation in the recent ArtsLink student St. Valentine artwork and associated auction in conjunction with the 2015 Valentine Concert on the 14th of February 2015 at the Lewis-Wetzel Family Center in New Martinsville.
Terry Cozart volunteered his time for the fundraising auction during the intermission of the concert. Nancy Nice volunteered her photography skills in capturing photos of the students and art teacher donations of artwork along with photos of the wonderful desserts prepared by the Swiss Hills Career Center restaurant management students. There were 108 students from various schools who participated by donating their artwork, setting up and tearing down of tables/chairs, operating sound equipment, assisting in decorating, emceeing the event, cleaning up, serving of beverages and desserts, and also in their attendance of the event. The participating students ranged in ages of Pre-K students at the Wetzel County Center for Children and Families through senior high school students of area schools. The shared artwork was beautiful.
Some of the students and their art teachers attended the event and explained the story and history of how they produced their individual pieces of ART they so graciously donated.
The monies raised from the auction, which totaled $338, was donated in its entirety to ArtsLink to assist in the funding of upcoming musical events and workshops focused on student education. Thanks to all who chose to purchase the student art. Your support is very much appreciated. Thanks to all who helped in any way.
