To the Editor:
Traitor.
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious, but it can not survive treason from within, for the traitor appears not as a traitor but speaks in accents familiar to his citizens and wears their face and their arguments. He appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation and works secretly to undermine the pillars of the city, infecting the body politic so that it can no longer resist!” These words were spoken by the philosopher Cicero, 106-43 BC.
These word are as true today as they were when he uttered them over 2,000 years ago! Going by the rational of the left in our country today, this quote by Cicero is without merit because of its age. According to most of the leftleaners in our country, any thing old is out of date, one might say, and not worthy of consideration! Our Constitution being one of those documents that is outdated and is rapidly being relegated to the scrap heap of history.
When the Constitution of the United States is rendered null and void, we will be without those cherished freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and we will be no better off than any of the other miserable third world countries who lead their lives subject to the whims and wishes of a tyrannical government.
And to think that a nation blessed by The Almighty with a land full of natural resources and unlimited freedoms, chief among them being the right to worship this magnificent Creator unrestrained by government, would willingly give this all up for serfdom is beyond imagination, yet this in effect is what we have done by electing representatives not worthy of their office.
The burden is on us for we didn’t demand term limits. The old saying that familiarity breeds contempt is personified by many of our elected officials. We elected them so many times they became contemptuous of us. Two terms is aplenty and in many cases it’s one too many. Elections have consequences. It’s do or die this November. Know who you are voting for!
