Letter to the Editor,
Summer is well on it’s way! Where does the time go?
We’re so glad to have all of the local festivities to attend. We all love that West Virginia foot-stomping music and of course that homemade food!
Which brings me to ask the question, “Have you been to the Wileyville Homecoming?” Sponsored by the V.F.D. and folks around Wileyville, this joint effort is a true treasure.
We work hard all year for the delight of one day, but what a day!
We see old friends and make new ones. Veterans exchange stories of service days, as they view the pictures of veterans on the Wall of Tribute. All branches and ages are represented there. If you have a loved one you want to add to salute their service, call Linda Kernan at 304-386-4532 for next year’s viewing.
Free entertainment all day, children games, good homemade food, and the firemen will have their special grill roasted and barbecue meats!
Horseshoe pitch and Cinch tournaments attract special interest, and of course the “Bubble Man” (Danny Westfall) will be helping entertain the young folks. A magic show for little ones starts at 1 p.m. (off stage).
A parade starts off the all-day event at 10:30 a.m. and Crossroads will close out the day at 8 p.m.
I hope to see you there!
