From John Morando
To The Editor,
I own and live at 118 North Third Avenue in Paden City. There is a single-wide mobile home adjacent to my property, approximately five feet away from my fence on the north side of my property. This mobile home has been vacant for several months. It is in deplorable condition. The weeds on the property are over three feet high. Teenagers have been seen coming out of the mobile home at night since it has been empty. Unfortunately, roaches have also moved out of the mobile home and have attempted to take up residence in my home as well as some of my neighbors’ homes.
I contacted my councilman and the mayor, who stated that he had sent a letter to the owner, which is all he can legally do. I’ve contacted the Wetzel-Tyler Health Department, who referred me back to city government. This property is a health hazard, with glass missing from some of the windows and winter approaching; it would be a fine shelter for disease carrying vermin.
Since moving to Paden City, my wife and I have been improving our property; attempting to add to the beauty of the neighborhood, but increasing our property value. With this “trashy trailer” next to us, it not only decreases our property value, but that of our neighbors.
If anyone reading this can help me rid my neighborhood of this problem “trailer” feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
John Morando
