To The Editor,
There are many nice things about New Martinsville. It is pleasant to watch the sun rise over the West Virginia hills and settle for the night into Ohio’s sky. but even on a cloudy day, I have found a lot of warmth in our small town. The attitude and help given by the employees at the Wetzel County Courthouse and the New Martinsville City Complex always makes me warm with gratitude. Over the years, they have helped my wife and I navigate the complexities of the wills, passports misplaced, tax receipts, and voting machines.
Bonnie Shannon at the city building has gone out of her way to find an answer to my questions.
I thank them all, and in particular, I want to let Brenda Hardman know that she is a wonderful asset as a city employee and just a pretty nice person. Brenda was processing Municipal Utility payments when she noticed a change in the way a check was made out. She could have said it was not her problem, and no one would have noticed, but Brenda had seen that this was not the right thing to do. She picked up the phone and checked with the customer to make certain the check was correct. Her call was an act of kindness that resolved what could have been a confusing situation.
Thank you Brenda. You are appreciated.
