From Goldie Poole
The 19th Wileyville Homecoming is now history. They chose me, Goldie Poole, to be the grand marshall this year, at the age of 90. When I received the phone call, it was indeed a surprise. After absorbing the request, I accepted with honor and appreciation.
I grew up in Fairview Ridge, four miles from Wileyville. I moved to New Martinsville in 1957, but it is nice to go back to my “grass roots.” In my opinion, the homecoming was a huge success. The weather was perfect; there was good entertainment and great food. It was wonderful to see old friends, relatives, and meet lots of new friends. this letter comes with extra special thanks to Rita Woods and the driver (whose name slips my mind) who provided the convertible for me to ride in during the parade. I was presented with a basket prepared with a little of everything. This special thank you note sent to you today holds more appreciation than words can say. You will never be forgotten for all the thoughtfulness you all have shown.
Thank you and God bless you all,
