The Field of Flags are at rest for the winter, but be reminded that the fighting and dying continue in Afghanistan. May our conversations and prayers continue to include our servicemen, their families, and their friends.

There have been seven more U.S. casualties in Afghanistan since Dec. 23 as reported by the Defense Department. The total of fallen heroes in Iraq and Afghanistan stands at 6,341 as of Jan. 6.

We just were informed that the 150-year-old meeting hall of Somers Congregational Church in Somers, Conn., burned down on Dec. 30. It is the home of The Field of Flags. The approximate 6,600 flags on hand were not stored in the church and thus survived this catastrophe.
