To the Editor:
The week of April 25-29 has been designated as West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees Week. WVARSE was founded in 1957 as an autonomous, self-governing volunteer membership organization that promotes the interests of all retired school employees. Some goals of the association are to provide timely retirement information, to keep insurance premiums down and benefits up, to obtain quality supplementary insurance plans at reasonable rates, and to provide scholarships to future teachers.
Wetzel County membership has increased over the past few years; all retired employees should consider being a member of the association to insure that our concerns are being heard at the State level. County dues are $5 and State dues are $10. The next meeting will be held at the Hundred Methodist Church on May 11 at noon. Call President Teresa Shackleford at 304-775-2474 for more information. There will be no meetings during the summer, but the group will meet again in August. Meetings and program information will be mailed to retirees in late June.
