New Year’s a Reflection of the Past, and a Fresh Start to the New

By Ed Parsons - Editor | Dec 30, 2020

The New Year is a time for looking back and for looking forward. For most of us 2020 will be the year we wish to forget. It has been extremely tough for the entire world. Life as we had grown used to changed dramatically as COVID-19 ravaged the globe. What should have been a normal election year, turned into a circus as Politics soared to another level. To say it was one party’s fault or another would be an understatement. While people make resolutions to break bad habits, create new ones, or maintain existing ones, it seems we have leadership in high places who need to resolve their failure to tell the truth.

Today our resolution at the county papers is one we intend to keep: we promise to continue to capture engaging images, and collect interesting stories related to our communities, and to keep you, “our dear readers”, informed about breaking news which affect our everyday lives. We will do our best to keep you informed of the progress of your children, your neighborhoods, our law enforcement, our roadways and our local governments.

Thanks to you, our Wetzel and Tyler County papers have been around for 143 years. Through our archives we are able to relive many of the past events dealing with matters long forgotten by many and new to others. We take our job to cover academics and athletics at our schools seriously. We cannot be everywhere at one time, but we strive to provide indepth coverage of our children, because they are our future.

We do not claim to be perfect; we understand here are times when we miss news which is important to our readers. Our goal is to bring you interesting features, up to date news and to stay local as much as possible. We plan to make 2021 even better!

We also employ local people, in full time and part time positions. Your feedback, constructive criticism, and, above all, your readership, have proven invaluable in our mission to produce the best news site possible. We hope you enjoy our website and Facebook pages, and the content we provide. Our editorial, and sports staff will continue to work hard to bring you objective and wide-ranging news concerning Wetzel, Tyler, and Monroe, Ohio counties.

On behalf of our entire Editorial Team, and sales Staff, we wish you, your family and friends the very best for the coming year!
