Amazing Stories
Sometimes we receive amazing “news tips.” For instance, a few weeks ago we were told about Douglas Fordyce, a Pine Grove native who has recently illustrated a children’s book.
The previous two statements might make one pause. After all, a story about a gentleman illustrating a children’s book about a cat might not seem to fit the criteria for a news tip – what some might define as a juicy tidbit of information. However, to us, Douglas’ story is the very definition of newsworthy.
News cycles are often filled with negative and positive. It’s easy to get caught in the negative cycle.
We were glad to tell Douglas’ story. He is an individual who has chased his dreams beyond the borders of Wetzel County, yet he hasn’t forgotten his roots. For years he wanted to illustrate a children’s book, and this aspiration came to fruition.
If you didn’t get a chance to read his story, you’ve missed out. Head to our website to check it out, or try to obtain a copy of our Aug. 29 paper.
And don’t forget, Douglas will be at Pine Grove’s Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 8. Stop by and see him, and be
inspired.
