It’s Child Abuse Prevention Month
In April 2017, the Wetzel Chronicle published a weekly column by Susan Scharf, Executive Director of the Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center. The time was fitting, as April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
We have decided to run columns by Scharf again for April 2018.
It is not just fitting though; it is necessary.
If you took the time to read last week’s Spotlight on Business, the amount of cases the CAC is taking on is increasing. The CAC’s services are needed now more than ever.
The CAC staff encounters the most heinous crimes committed against the most vulnerable individuals of our society, mere children. Their work is 24/7; there is no doubt it follows them home.
We want to do our part to help, and we hope you will consider the same. Read the CAC’s columns in the next four weeks. Stay alert to the signs of child abuse; if you see something, say something.
The children the CAC helps have encountered true evil. However, thanks to the Lighthouse, they have a beacon of hope, for a brighter future.
