Thank You Wetzel County Schools
We were thrilled Friday when we confirmed the news that Wetzel County Schools is furnishing its students’ school supplies for the 2017-2018 school year. Each student will only need a backpack and a lunchbox, (if he or she chooses to bring lunch from home).
But, besides that, parents will not have to worry about purchasing items such as folders, crayons, pencils, binders, pencil cases, pens, construction paper, tissues, or graphing calculators. Each student will have the supplies he or she is required to have for classes.
Once we confirmed the news, and shared it via our Wetzel Chronicle Facebook page, the response was overwhelming. Our post was shared and “liked” more than 350 times, and it reached more than 28,000 people! Parents responded in disbelief, but sincere gratitude and excitement.
We feel the same.
Besides not having to worry about affording school supplies, Wetzel County Schools also recently announced that children would have free breakfast and lunch again, for the 2017-2018 school year.
Kids shouldn’t have to worry about their next meal, or having the proper binder or writing utensil for a class. Unfortunately, in today’s world, that isn’t always the case. Thus, we are tremendously grateful to the school system for ensuring our community’s kids will not have to carry extra, unnecessary burdens through the school day. Their minds can focus on learning.
This investment, from Wetzel County Schools, ensures that our kids can do just that, while achieving an optimistic and successful future.
