The Litter Problem

By Staff | Apr 26, 2017

We are glad the Wetzel County Solid Waste Authority is continuing its discussion on the county’s litter problem. Something needs to be done soon.

Although we are very much appreciative of the countywide cleanup initiative that started last year, and will take place again this year, we feel that measures need to be taken to prevent the litter from happening in the first place. The authority recognizes this, but if a difference is truly to be made, everyone needs to take action.

The authority discussed a possible special meeting, involving county and various municipality representatives, along with the public.

This is where you come in.

We asked, via our Facebook page, for our readers’ thoughts on the litter problem, and you answered. So, let’s take the next step. We encourage you to come to the next regular solid waste authority meeting, on May 4. Let your voices be heard.

The meeting will only take an hour of your time, but the benefits will hopefully last well into the future.
