Learning From Liam
For more than a year, area residents fervently hoped and prayed for Liam Varughese. Though he has a local connection – his mom, Julie, hails from Sistersville – it would have been difficult not to be captivated by Liam’s story. Photos of him always showed a vibrant and smiling little boy, eyes full of life, despite a grueling battle with neuroblastoma.
Just a few short weeks ago, Little Lambs Preschool paid tribute to “superheroes” – kids who have battled cancer, such as Bentley Yow, Remington Bassett, and Liam himself. Cancer is a battle that no innocent child should face, but Liam bravely did.
Via the public “Lift Up Liam” Facebook page that kept us all updated on Liam’s battle, his family posted about his passing on Oct. 8.
In the post, it was noted that in his final hours Liam would call out in his sleep, loudly and cheerfully saying “Goodbye” and “I Love You.”
Though he only lived three short years, Liam left behind a legacy and valuable life lessons that, for many of us, takes decades to achieve.
