You know Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but do you recall the day you’re supposed to “Shop Small”?
This Saturday is what has become known as Small Business Saturday. It is a day-after all the hoopla promoted by the big box stores has settled down-to return to the heart of your community and make a big difference with your holiday budget. It is a day when you are asked to shop small-to buy from the “mom and pop” store down the street or pay your neighbor rather than a Chinese worker for a new Christmas decoration.
Studies say that each dollar spent at a local business returns to the community five fold-through local taxes, employee wages, supply purchases, school funding, social services, and contributions to non-profit endeavors.
Now that’s what we call a good deal-for everyone!
