The saying goes that a person can get caught between a rock and a hard place. Well in New Martinsville, some Brooklyn area residents are often caught between a train and a closed bridge.

While we sympathize with their plight, we also do not want anyone to be hurt on an unstable bridge. Reopening it is simply not an option.

It is a very difficult situation, that is for sure. Unfortunately there is really nothing local powers that be can do, except to try to influence the “powers that be”. In this instance those powers are CSX and the Department of Transportation-one controls the railroad and the other the bridge.
