While it’s not a popular decision, New Martinsville’s decision not to hold a free spring clean up this year is fiscally wise. The city has been having financial problems and the clean up is not necessary.

As pointed out in the article on the front page, there are many options for ways to dispose of excess items and waste for free. The city really doesn’t need to foot the bill for it. All it takes is some planning and elbow grease or maybe a phone call or two.

So don’t delay that spring cleaning because of their decision, just find other ways of disposal or recycling.
