As Magnolia’s football team suffered a last minute loss on Saturday, the feelings were overwhelming. Their dream season was over, sadly. . . suddenly.

As the players could do nothing but show their raw emotions and fans filed out of the stands, shocked, we couldn’t help but think fondly of the season and those who brought it to us.

There is a traditional cheer offered at the end of a season-ending loss-“We’re proud of our team, yes we’re proud of our team.”

We’ve always thought players probably hated to hear that chant because it inevitably comes after a defeat. But the truth is that they are not empty words. We are proud of our team. You make us proud. You give us something to cheer about. We love you.
