Strength In The Positive

By Staff | Nov 16, 2011

Complaining seems to have become a national pastime. We complain about the rain. We complain about bright sunshine. We complain about our jobs. We complain about a lack of jobs. You name it and someone, or rather many people, have undoubtedly complained about it.

Yet it seems that those who have the most grounds to complain are usually the ones who imbibe in the elixir of discontent the least.

Take as example the thousands of United States veterans who have good cause for complaint. They risked their lives. They got little pay. Conditions in the field weren’t exactly comfortable. Yet they rarely complain. In fact, it is often said that they gladly served.

Look to Zachary Taylor (story on page 10B). This young man’s life is predicted to be cut short in only a week or two, yet he doesn’t complain. He wants to ease his family’s sorrow and burden while living life to the fullest.

Hopefully these shining examples, and others like them, can remind us that complaining is only for the weak.
