RICHARD “DICKIE” MILLER JR.

Richard “Dickie” Miller Jr., 74, passed away on July 24, 2026, just days before his 75th birthday, following a brief illness at Sistersville Center.

Born to the late Richard “Dick” Miller Sr. and Mary Lou (Leek) Miller of Reader, West Virginia, Dickie was a proud graduate of Valley High School, Class of 1969. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He proudly served aboard the USS Independence aircraft carrier from 1969 until 1973, an experience that remained a source of pride throughout his life.

Following his military service, Dickie dedicated more than 30 years of hard work to PPG Industries before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his country.

Dickie is survived by his two children, his sister, Linda Baird of Kenosha, Wisconsin; his uncle, Ronald Leek of Galmish, West Virginia; his beloved nephews, his special friend, Pamela Adams and his loving cat Peaches. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who will forever treasure his memory: Allyson (Johnny) Sturgeon of Jeffersonville, Indiana; Jessica (Logan) Hammel of DeSoto, Iowa; Elizabeth Ashcraft of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Storey Rice; and many others.

In keeping with his wishes, a military graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family to honor his faithful service to the United States Navy.

Dickie will be remembered for his love of family, his years of dedicated service to his country and career, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
