Edwin C. Blatt

Jun 4, 2025

Edwin C. Blatt, 86, of Paden City, West Virginia, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on May 29, 2025. Born December 20, 1938, Eddie lived a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering faith.

Eddie graduated from Paden City High School in 1956 and went on to serve two years in the Army Reserve. For 44 years, Eddie worked in the cast house of the Ormet aluminum plant in Hannibal, OH. After retiring, he found joy in a second chapter at the garden center of Walmart in New Martinsville, WV, where his warmth and good humor made him a favorite among coworkers and customers alike.

A man of deep faith, Eddie was a lifelong servant in the churches he called home–Paden City Christian Church and later Paden City Church of Christ. Over the years, he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, church bus driver, choir singer, camp counselor, and camp cook. Whether he was lending a hand or lifting a voice, Eddie gave his all to the Lord and to the people around him.

Married for 67 years to the love of his life, Ida Ferrebee Blatt, their marriage stood as a model of devotion and partnership. Together they raised three daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Pryor of Paden City, WV, Kim (Jeff) Lewis of Barnesville, OH, and Jana (Steve) Bock of Westerville, OH. Eddie was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, pouring his heart into each generation of his family.

He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer) Pryor of Ringgold, GA; Rebekah (Scot) Ruddock of Marysville, OH; Sarah (Tony) Cline of Ronceverte, WV; Jordan (Dayna) Lewis of Ellicott City, MD; and Wesley Lewis of Barnesville, OH. He was a proud great-grandfather to Presley Cline, Bastian Pryor, Maximus Ruddock, Riley Cline, and little Edwin Lewis–his namesake and a symbol of his enduring legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Pearl Blatt of Paden City, WV; his sister, Darlene (Dave) Freeman of Friendly, WV; and his daughter, Debbie Pryor of Paden City, WV.

Eddie’s life was one of service, loyalty, and quiet generosity. He didn’t seek the spotlight, but he left a bright light in the lives of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed–and dearly remembered.

Friends received noon until 4 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Jarvis Williams Funeral Home in Paden City WV. Funeral will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Paden City Church of Christ with Brian Price officiating. Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.
