James L. Batson
James L. Batson, 91, passed peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Sunday, April 27th. Jim was a resident of Paden City. WV. James “Jim” fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and is now at peace with his Heavenly Father. He was born at Wetzel County Hospital on June 27th, 1933. His parents, Albert and Virginia Batson of Middlebourne proceeded him in death. Jim retired from PPG Industries in 1989 following 33 years employment. He was a veteran of the United States Navy for four years. Jim was a dedicated member of The Church of the Nazarene for sixty-three years where he served in many capacities. He was a very talented stained-glass arts man, making several beautiful pieces that are the family’s keepsakes. Jim was a kind, wonderful, religious and humble man. He loved his God, family and friends. He will be deeply missed! He is survived by the “love of his life”, Deloris June (Virden) Batson, they were married sixty-eight wonderful years. Surviving also is his brother-in-law, Ronald Virden (Susan) of Schnecksville, PA and his sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Meeks) Virden. He had several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. And they all loved their “Uncle Jim” so very much. He was proceeded in death, in addition to his parents, by his sister, Karen Konrad of Roanoke, VA.
Friends received 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at The Church of The Nazarene in Paden City. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025 with Patrick McGue officiating at The Church of The Nazarene. Full Military Honors will be given and interment will be at Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV
