James “Jim” H. Maury Sr.

James “Jim” H. Maury Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025. He was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, to Paul Simon and Edna Virginia (Lasure) Maury.

Jim was a beloved and devoted preacher at Waco Church of Christ for 30 years. He was a traveler, taking trips anywhere and everywhere with his wife, Carol. Jim was also an avid Nascar fan, a collector of antiques, and a diligent deer hunter.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Maurer; step-son, Timothy Neff; daughter-in-law, Jill Maury; siblings, Freda, Jacob Maury; sisters-in-law, Vivian Maury, Juanita Maury; brother-in-law, James Cochran.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife of 40 years, Carol (Cochran Neff) Maury; children, Deborah Maury of Canton, OH, Mary Jo (Tom) Adams of Canton, OH, James H. Maury Jr. of Orville, OH; step-children, Debra (Rick) Thomas of West Virginia, Sandra (Mike) Howell of West Virginia; brother, Norman Maury of Waynesburg, OH; sisters-in-law, Connie Cochran of North Carolina, Linda (Leeroy) Howell of West Virginia; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 4-6 pm at Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Ave. S., Canton, OH 44707. Additional calling hours will be held at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St, New Martinsville, WV 26155 on February 27, 2025, from 11am-1pm with a funeral service to follow. Jim will be interred at Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden, WV.
