Carol Sue Myers

Carol Sue Myers
(nee Gilger) was born
January 2, 1948 in
New Martinsville,
WV, and died February 10, 2025 after a
short illness.
She was a resident of
Eastlake, OH for 51
years. She graduated
salutatorian from Magnolia High School in
New Martinsville WV
in 1965. She then
earned a B.S. degree
(Summa Cum Laude)
in Education from
Ohio University. In
1969 she married
James E. Myers and
began a 55-year adventure. It took her to
Lawton, OK where
Jim finished his U.S.
Army stint. They subsequently moved to
Wellsville, OH, where
she taught Home
Economics. After
moving to Eastlake,
OH, she worked for
several years at Minnesota Fabrics, where
she acquired friends
and an attic full of fabrics. She later worked
at Allen-Bradley as a
financial analyst, followed by Lubriquip,
and retiring from IBA
Molecular in 2013.
Carol Sue loved
sewing, having made
her own wedding
gown, most of her
clothes, as well as
sports jackets and
shirts for her husband.
She was expert at maing crafts for family
and friends, including
Christmas tree ornaments. She was not
only a very good cook,
but a superb confectioner. She preserved
the family candy recipes of her Aunt
Phyllis and continued
to make the pecan rolls
and fudge which were
traditions in the Gilger
family.
She was preceded in
death by her parents
Fred and Dorothea
(Rist) Gilger, sister
Mary Jo Burgess,
sister-in-law Patricia
(Yager) Gilger,
brothers-in-law George
G. Myers and Anthony
Parks, and
mother-/father-in-law
Betty Jane (Gilbert)
Myers and George
Bob Myers.
Carol Sue is survived by her husband
of 55 years, James
Myers, brother Howard Gilger, sisters
Shirley (Gilger)
Myers, Elizabeth Betsy (Gilger) Parks,
sister-in-law Eleanor
June EJ (Myers)
Grandstaff, and
brother s-i n-law
Richard Grandstaff
and Rodger Burgess,
and many beloved
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
The family is planning a Celebration of
Life for Carol Sue in
June. In lieu of
flowers, please consider a contribution to the
American Kidney
Fund. Through the efforts of dedicated doctors and nurses, Carol
Sue experienced a successful transplant, allowing her to enjoy six
wonderful years with
her family and friends.
