Mildred Irene Peterson

Mildred Irene Peterson, 101, was reunited with her husband, Clifford Peterson on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 while at The Heritage at St. Marys in St. Marys, WV.

Mildred was born April 22, 1923, in Monowi, NE daughter of the late Emil A. and Carolyn Florence (Lenger) Peterson.

She was a Lutheran, and enjoyed cooking. While living in Florida, she helped with the raising and training of young men with disabilities (teaching them how to cook, count money, and the other necessities of life), with the goal of enabling these young men to become capable of living on their own when paired up with another of these young men. She and her husband never had children; however, because of her work with these young men, in Florida she won a “Mother Of The Year” contest sponsored by the local newspaper.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins scattered across the country.

Mildred will be returning to Nebraska to be laid to rest by her beloved Clifford at the convenience of the family. The Brockhaus Funeral Home, 253-5 Apple St., Niobrara, NE 68760 with assist with the funeral services and burial in the Riverview Cemetery in Niobrara.
