Milton O. Smith

Milton O. Smith, age 76, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital Morgantown, WV.

He was born May 29, 1948, in New Martinsville, WV, a son of the late Okey and Rosa Kocher Smith.

He was a retired police officer for the New Martinsville Police Dept, Christian by faith, and a member of the Moose Lodge # 931 New Martinsville, WV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and joking and talking with friends. He loved spending time with family and loved ones.

There wasn’t a child or pet around that didn’t love him, and he loved each of them back. He had a huge heart, maybe to a fault, at times.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Davis Smith; three brothers, Sonny, David and Arnold Smith; and three sisters, Mary Lou Thomas, Thelma Ingold and Dorothy Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie (Eric) Ritz of Wheeling, WV; brother, Ralph (Jonee) Smith of New Martinsville, WV; 6 grandchildren, Harlee Dayton, Sara Armstrong, Lacee Frazier, Kaylie Smith, Katie Buckland and Oliver Buckland and 3 great grandchildren, Sophia Parsons, Ricky Dayton and Calliope Dayton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday January 7, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Shank officiating.

Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery New Martinsville.
