Richard E. Stewart
Richard E. Stewart, O.D. age 75, of New Martinsville, WV, formerly of Elm Grove, WV, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his home. He was a 3 1/2 year survivor of pancreatic cancer.
Richard was born August 21, 1949, in Chicago, IL, the son of Russell M. Stewart, Jr and Willie Therrell Stewart. He was a graduate of Triadelphia High School, Class of 1967 and obtained a B.A. in Radio and Television Broadcasting and an M.A. in Speech Communication from West Virginia University. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and was a licensed optometrist in West Virginia and Nevada. Richard was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randall Clark Stewart.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Pamela Oliver Stewart; a brother, Russell M. Stewart (Carlene) of Plant City, FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Dillon Smittle of New Martinsville, WV; nieces and nephews, Rene’ (Kevin) Haught of Hedgesville, WV, Brenna (Sean) Diver of Franklin, TN, Kailan Haught of Morgantown, WV, Ashley (Michael) Fox of Franklin, TN, Addisyn, Caleb and Jonas Fox of Franklin, TN, Patricia, Nate, Gabe, Sadie, Mason, Grace and Rayne Oglesby of Oklahoma City, OK, Gretta and Elena DeSantis of Frankfort, KY, Garrett Jonte of Louisville, KY, and Ann Stewart of Lakeland, FL.
No viewing or funeral service.
