Webb, Nancy Genevieve Clark Wichterman
Webb, Nancy Genevieve Clark Wichterman, 88, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lafayette, Colo.
She was born at home December 23, 1922, on Lower Run, Hastings, in the house her father built. An original Rosie the Riveter, she helped build B-29 bombers at Goodyear Aircraft in Akron, Ohio during WW II. She married a soldier and fellow West Virginian, and the two raised three children together in Norton, Ohio after the war.
A stay-at-home mother for nearly 30 years, she learned to drive and went back to school after the death of her first husband, moving first to Arizona, before settling in Colorado. She retired from Beth Israel Hospital where she worked as a Nurse’s Assistant. She was a member of the Church of Christ and listed “being baptized into the Lord’s church” as one of her proudest accomplishments. Her ability to smile in the face of adversity is an inspiration to many. “Sometimes it takes a lifetime to see all the blessings you have.”
She is preceded in death by parents, Clarence Clark and Melissa Hayes Clark; four brothers, four sisters, and two husbands: Lewis A. Wichterman and Richard H. Webb.
Survivors include one sister, Alice B. Clark; three children: Dale Wichterman, Joyce Kuchar, and Pam Milavec; three grandchildren: Frank Kuchar, Heather Barget, and Mitchell Milavec; two honorary grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will held April 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 751 Third St., New Martinsville. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville.
