Morris, Harry Melvin, 82, of Wileyville, died September 25, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. He was born on July 13, 1926, in Endicott, the son of the late Charles Hagar and Lura Ellen Morris.

He retired from Penzoil Company in 1984 with 32 years of service and continued working in the oil field as vice president/co-owner of L&M Oil and Gas of Knob Fork.

He was a member of the Long Valley Church of Christ, Littleton Lodge No. 131 A.F.&A.M., American Legion Post 120 of Hundred, and was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He was also an avid coon hunter, fisherman, and loved getting together with his many friends to play bluegrass music.

Harry was a loving dad, grandpap, and great-grandpap and will be sadly missed by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Eileen Pauline Ice Morris, and his sister, Effie Morris Anderson.

Surviving are his two daughters, Sue Long and her husband Larry, and Diana Briggs and her husband Danny, all of Wileyville; four grandchildren, Michael Long and his wife Jeannie, Terry Long, Brandi Briggs, and D.J. Briggs and his wife Alena; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Macy Long; and one nephew, Jack Anderson and wife Noel.

Friends were received 2-9 p.m. Sept. 27 at Palmer Funeral Home, Inc., where services were held on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. with Jeff Tucker officiating. Interment at the Moore Cemetery, Wileyville.
