Briggs, Georgia L.

Briggs, Georgia L., 90, of Hill Street, New Martinsville, died September 26, 2008, at the New Martinsville Health Care Center.

She was born August 30, 1918, in Jacksonburg, the daughter of the late William Perry and Delia Carrie Flowers Haught.

She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Briggs; two brothers, Charles Layman Haught and William Edward Haught; one sister, Virginia Gerlina Jackson; a grandson, Charles Steven Eraklianos; and a great-grandson, Bryson Raymond Ackles.

Survivors include three daughters, Star Banay Briggs and Phyllis Haught Croasmun, both of New Martinsville, and Susan Briggs Hall of Moundsville; a son, Jimmy Lee Briggs and his wife Lorna of New Martinsville; a sister, Mae Imogene Bachman of Hannibal; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family received friends Sept. 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services were held Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Brooks officiating.

Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville.
