By Chuck Clegg - Staff Writer | Jul 8, 2026

With summer beginning, the annual Back Home Festival returned to the streets of New Martinsville. The three-day event is filled with music and stage performances. Topping it all off Sunday evening with a world class fireworks display.

The weather wasn’t the best, but it was not a wash out. Friday and Saturday saw light rain fall on the festival goers, but just enough to be annoying and soaking. Hundreds turned out each day to listen to the music and some did a little dancing.

Starting Friday, the Stage was set with three performing groups, Crows Club, Colt Clark & Quarantine Kids and the headline at 9:00 pm, Splintered Sunlight. Inside the Lincoln Theater at midnight The Revue performed.

Saturday’s line up featured an early morning fitness program with yoga, and cardio drumming. At the Doolin Center a Dulcimer workshop was held. At 1:00 on stage, Optimum 22 kicked off the day’s music, followed by Mountain Static, Bucket of Puppies, Eleanor Walrus, John Welton, Butler Street Revival, Marc Ridge and RailRoad Earth. At midnight in the Lincoln Theater the Brachtopus group played.

Sunday kicked off the festivities with morning gospel singing with the Crow Company Gospel Group. At 1:00 Company Caravan performed followed by Old Soul Reveal, Nick Davisson, Guthrie Family Singers, John Ingram Band, and Smilo & the Ghost.

At 8pm the Davisson Brothers Band finished the evening stage entertainment. Then the grand fireworks display sponsored by the city of New Martinsville.

This year’s sponsors for the Back home Event were; City of New Martinsville, Wetzel County Commission and EQT Foundation. Additional sponsors were the State of West Virginia, MPLX, WVNCC New Martinsville Campus, The Movie House, WesBanco, Flower Basket, S&S Jewelry, National Youth Advocacy Program, Jennings Brae Bank Farms, Riggenbach Tile and Carpet, and Radio WETZ
