World War II Vet Celebrates 99th Birthday

Ernie Blatt of Paden City, W.Va. turned 99-years-old on Oct. 2. He was born October 2, 1919 in Porters Falls, W.Va., the son of Virgil and Iva Blatt.

He served in World War II and was a Navy Corpsman with the 1st Marine Division Invasion of Guadalcanal.

He retired from PPG Industries, Natrium, W.Va. He has been a member of the VFW Post #6327, Sistersville, W.Va. and American Legion Post #86, Paden City, W.Va.

Ernie and his wife Dorothy have six children, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. They are members of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Paden City, W.Va.

Together, Ernie and Dorothy will celebrate their birthdays (Ernie, 99 and Dorothy, 89) on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 1-5 p.m. at Paden City Christian Church’s Fellowship Hall on Paden Fork Road, Paden City, W.Va. Everyone is welcome.
