Newton (Ed) and Shirley Higginbotham of New Martinsville, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on both May 22, with a trip to their favorite place, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and on June 2, with a family get-together.

The Higginbothams were united in marriage on May 22, 1958, in Pine Grove.

Shirley is the daughter of the late Encil and Mildred Cross. Ed is the son of the late Ray Higginbotham and Myrtle Wines.

They are the parents of two children: a son, Newton E. Higginbotham Jr. (wife Terry of New Martinsville) and daughter, Jill (husband Todd Brown) of New Martinsville.

They have three wonderful grandchildren: Newton E III (wife Jessica) of Rio, W.Va.; Alexandra Higginbotham of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Bailey Brown of New Martinsville.
