Smiths Will Mark 60th?Anniversary

Otto and Norma Jean Smith will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 2 at the First Baptist Church in Sistersville. The open house will be hosted by their children and grandchildren.

They were united in marriage on Aug. 23, 1952, in the United Brethren Parsonage in Bens Run. The Reverend Mendell Gainer officiated.

Norma is the daughter of the late Harold and Sara Cornell of Friendly. Otto is the son of the late Otto and Gladys Smith of Arvilla, W.Va.

They are the parents of three daughters. The family includes Teresa Starcher (Victor, deceased) of Sistersville; Cindy Emmerling and her husband William of East Liverpool, Ohio; and Donna George and her husband Ronald of Sistersville.

The couple has three granddaughters: Victoria Starcher Card, and her husband Craig of Randleman, N.C.; Amy Starcher Thompson and her husband Brandon of Hickory, N.C.; and Stacy Emmerling Corll, and her husband Ben of Lisbon, Ohio. Seven great-grandchildren complete the family: Anna, Isabelle, and Evan Card; Christian, Noah, and and Isaac Thompson; and Maggie Jean Corll.

Please join the family on Sept. 2 as they celebrate their parents’ 60th anniversary and their mother’s 80th birthday, which is Sept. 5.
