Smiths Will Enjoy Golden Anniversary
Jerry Wilbert Smith and the former Yvonne Pearl Wetzel will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 3. The couple was united in marriage in 1961 by the Reverend R. A. Wells at the Alma United Methodist Church in Alma. Serving as maid of honor was sister of the bride, the late Grace (Wetzel) Seckman, and the best man was Virgil Templeton.
Jerry is the son of the late Joseph and Leota Smith of Alma. He graduated from Tyler County High School in 1958 and worked for the Ormet Corporation for 42 years.
Yvonne is the daughter of the late Robert and Merle Wetzel of Middlebourne. She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1960 and was employed by Tyler County Schools for 34 years.
The couple have four children: twins Terri Yvonne Smith of Wilmington, N.C., and Tamara Jane (Jeff Bowers) of Paden City; Bobbi Jo (Mike Harlan) of Williamstown, and Jerry Benson Smith (Hyehyon) of Colorado Springs, Colo. Grandchildren include Jeri and Johanna Carenbauer, Jeffrey and Jennifer Bowers, Kory Bliss and Carli Harlan, and Terry and Jerry Robert Smith.
Family and friends are invited to a reception in the couple’s honor at the Wells Inn in Sistersville on March 26 from 6-8 p.m.
