Tad Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship Awarded To Two

Two Wetzel County seniors have been awarded a $1,000 Tad Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship for 2026.
This year’s recipients are Finn Loy and Alex Yeager from Magnolia High School.
Finn is the son of Kandi Loy-Kay and Josh Loy of New Martinsville. While attending Magnolia High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. He lettered in basketball, football, and baseball. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Finn has been involved in many community activities and is an Eagle Scout. He will attend West Virginia University/Parkersburg and major in law and criminal justice.
Alex is the son of Kevin and Connie Yeager of New Martinsville. At Magnolia, he was nominated and attended Mountaineer Boys State. He was a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Alex was in band, participated in Robotics, cross country, track and archery. He is involved in many community activities including Boy Scouts earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and he is a volunteer firefighter. Alex plans to further his education in law and public safety at WVU/P.
These scholarships are funded from proceeds of the previous Tad Fitzsimmons run/walks that were held for eight years in Tad’s honor and from generous donations from businesses and friends.
